Cleaning phases

Deposits were found on the stonework surfaces which needed a mixture of cleaning processes, such as wet and dry, chemical and mechanical. The processes used depended on whether the need was for conservation or aesthetics.

Treatment of the joints and surface repairs

The treatment of the joints consisted in removal of unnecessary materials, partial filling of structural gaps and the final plastering of the surfaces Ð around ten thousand metres of jointing were repaired.

Other work

This includes various small jobs and the final treatment for protection.
